Minimum Requirements to Apply

An applicant to the WYOJATC must meet four minimum requirements to apply for apprenticeship.
- Applicant must be 18 years old at time of application.
- Applicant must show proof of one credit in Algebra I or a higher math class with a passing grade OR you may substitute the SkillsPrep.org Online Learning System math course for the math requirement. Visit https://www.skillsprep.org/login/index.php .
- Applicant must be a high school graduate or have a GED.
- Applicant must possess a valid driver’s license.
THOSE INDIVIDUALS WITH ELECTRICAL CONSTRUCTION EXPERIENCE:
Individuals who can verify (by providing *indisputable documentation) that they have worked a minimum of two-thousand (2,000) hours in the electrical construction trade, will qualify for a direct interview to be considered along with other qualified applicants.
Individuals who can verify (by providing *indisputable documentation) that they have worked a minimum of four-thousand (4,000) hours in the electrical construction trade, will qualify for direct entry. Applicants with at least 4,000 hours can choose to take the WYOJATC Advanced Placement Test prior to applying to determine what year of curriculum they would be placed in.
*Indisputable Documentation is verification of hours worked in general areas of residential, commercial or industrial electrical construction work or by actual tasks and submitted on your past employer’s company letterhead and signed by a company official and notarized OR a copy of the Wyoming Department of Fire Prevention and Electrical Safety Apprentice Electrician O.J.T. Work Experience Verification form filled out completely and notarized.
